I find bios difficult to write. In their "formal" incarnation, they are dry and often boring. You don't really care where I went to school, unless maybe you went there, too. And I can never quite believe anyone is interested in me.

But, hey, who am I to assume I know what you care about? So here's me, in a nutshell. Probably a coconut shell, but then, I am a little crazy. :)

I graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in December of 1991. Not too far from the science building where I earned my degree in geography and environmental studies is a sulfur spring. The campus used to be a spa, and one renovated building and this tiny pool of clear, stinky water are all that remain. My husband's fraternity, Delta Tau Delta, had this ritual: Whenever one of the brothers pinned his girlfriend, they kidnapped him, brought him to the spring, stripped him, dumped him in the water, then gave him his shoes to run, surrounded by his brothers, the 3 1/2 blocks back to the frat house. Naked.

I never got pinned.

After an internship at the National Geographic Society in Washington, DC (when I developed my love of the city--see Second Chance At Forever), I married the coward and we settled down to a fairly happy life.

In 1995 our first daughter was born, followed in 1999 by our second. I won't go on and on about what fabulous, brilliant, mostly well-behaved kids they are. They both want to be writers. Nuff said.

I am married to the best guy on Earth. Not only does he do more than his share of the dishes, laundry, yardwork, cleaning, and child-rearing, he complete supports my writing and my other passions.
